Music Overview for Website
At St Joseph’s we aim to provide a high-quality music curriculum which engages and inspires children to develop a life-long love of music. We aim to do this by delivering an integrated, practical, exploratory and child-led approach to musical learning through our music scheme, Charanga. The interrelated dimensions of music weave through our music lessons to encourage the development of musical skills as the learning progresses through listening and appraising, differing musical activities (including creating and exploring) and performing. At St Joseph’s, our KS2 children have access to Wakefield’s Wider Opportunities music programme and to the Diocesan singing programme. There is also regular singing through collective worship and mass.
Below you will find the whole school subject overview and progression frameworks for this area of the curriculum.
